GLOBAL LEADERS IN TENDER-ASSISTED DRILLING
Sapura Energy has the world’s largest fleet of tender-assisted drilling rigs. We are proud of our strong heritage as the foundation for our continued innovation to bring the best drilling solutions to our clients.

Drilling

Our drilling segment covers the world’s leading tender rig owner and operator, with over 50% market share in both Tender Barge Rigs and Semi-Tender Rigs. The Group currently owns and operates a versatile fleet of eight tender barge rigs and seven semi-tender rigs, with one more semi-tender rig presently under construction.

Headquartered in Malaysia, with operations in Asia, Africa and the Americas, the drilling segment comprises over 2,000 highly skilled and competent employees representing over 50 nationalities.

We have more than four decades of experience in tender assist drilling operations, which began in the 1970s with RobRay Tender Rigs. As the pioneer in the tender drilling industry, our mission is to provide our partners with the safest operations paired with sustainable technical solutions for the most efficient and cost effective delivery of our clients development drilling program.

Our Strategy

Four decades ago tender rigs were primarily developed for production and development drilling in Asia. Since then, we have used Asia as a springboard to expand our presence to Africa and the Americas, and we are consistently looking to expand our operations.

We have used our experience over the past forty years, to continue to upgrade and increase the operational efficiency of our assets. This ensures that we have the most modern, cutting edge and technologically advanced fleet, which gives us a significant operating life for a 30-year operational cycle.

The continuous upgrading of our assets will allow us to operate in both shallow and deep waters as well as benign and harsh environments globally.

Drilling Capabilities

Our tenders can be used for operations in waters as shallow as 30 ft. to depths as deep as 6,000 ft. in many areas globally.

Sustainability

Tender units require a fixed platform or floating platform from which multiple wells can be drilled.

The tender rig concept allows for reduced CAPEX and OPEX for our partners over the full duration of the fields thanks to:

  • Multiple wells drilled from one area, reducing time between wells and improving personnel & logistic planning synergies this, along with a much shorter well duration resulting in improved performances in batch-drilling, SIMOPS and dry tree operations.
  • Improved maintenance plans and overall CAPEX and OPEX costs for the entire life of the field.
  • Higher utilization rate of the drilling equipment due to its mobility.
