The Vessel Deployment System (VDS) is specifically designed to allow subsea intervention and abandonment to be conducted from a vessel of opportunity. VDS creates a working moon pool with guide wires and deployment sheave, over the stern or moon pool area. A skidding system allows safe movement of high loads on deck, to and from the moonpool. The VDS includes an active heave compensated winch allowing the system to be used on vessels without a subsea crane.
